Earlier in the year, Nicom put into production for the Port of Halifax an “Enhanced Container Tracking” web application, which answers the question definitively, “Where is my container?”. That seems to be a simple enough question, but if the answer is “over there, see, under that stack of other containers,” then that doesn’t do you much good.

I am delighted to announce that we have hired Ralph Desveaux as Director of Business Development for Nicom Maritime. Ralph is a veteran of the IT industry, with past experience in exporting software solutions throughout the world.

One thing we’re hoping for in 2015 is to grow our logistics software business beyond North America. There are certainly enough inquiries coming in – the trick is how to capitalize on them.

A contract for logistics software will allow Nicom Maritime, a division of Nicom IT Solutions Inc., of Halifax, to help officials at Virginia International Terminals in Norfolk track one of North America’s busiest flows of containers, partner Pat d’Entremont said Monday.

Congratulations to Mike Hatfield and Ken Acker for bringing in some new business from the Maritime Exchange in Philadelphia.
